Guest Experiences at Galson Farm Guesthouse and Crofters Retreat
Outstanding Accommodation.
Elaine and Richard do it right. Richard’s breakfasts were amazing. Elaine is nothing but charming. She answered all our questions and made us feel at home. This is the place if you are visiting Lewis!
Amazing stay at Galson Farm!
I highly recommend staying at this seaside guesthouse. You’ll be able to enjoy beautiful walks on the beaches and visit the rest of the Isle of Lewis.
Warm welcome. Superb accommodation.
From arriving to leaving following a two night stay we were wrapped in a warm Herbridean welcome from Elaine and Richard. Everything about Galson Farm says welcome , relax and enjoy. Our exquisitely decorated and extremely comfortable and spacious room provided us with a sumptuous nights sleep following a day of exploring the local area. Elaine is a font of local knowledge, with lots of information if one is unsure where to visit. There is a lovely walk to the beach from their Croft if you don’t feel like venturing too far . The breakfasts are delicious and hearty too .
We think this is a little gem of a place .
Classy gem in North Lewis
A wee gem in the north of Lewis. We stayed in the Crofter’s Retreat. Lovely, warm and comfortable accommodation- bedroom/sitting room combined with a separate well-equipped kitchen, and separate bathroom. The hosts have really thought of travellers’ needs and comforts. Loved it. Would have been happy to stay another night.
Amazing Location & Hosts!
First time to the Outer Hebrides and we made an excellent decision to stay with Elaine & Richard of the Galson Farm Guest House on the Isle of Lewis.
A stunning property. A five minute walk down to the rugged coastline where we passed dogs, horses, sheep and saw seabirds, snails, lobster pots, rocks and there was even an archaeological dig in the mid 1980s where the body of a Iron Age woman was found. History and ruins are all around this island. The Steinacleit standing stones are a short drive from the house where you walk through the machair and take in the rolling moorland and ocean views.
Self Catering - Crofters Retreat ❤️
We arrived on a sunny day to a cobbled court yard with pure white washing blowing in the wind and a warm greeting from Elaine and Richard to Crofters Retreat.
We was early but it was great to be able to store our luggage in the tractor shed as we was travelling by motorbike so that we could go and get our supplies at cross stores which was a fantastic recommendation , be sure to get the ness black pudding 😉best we’ve had anywhere.
So Galson Farm was extremely comfortable, superbly equipped with everything your need . The bed was so comfortable your struggle to get up but the thought of a cuppa in the court yard looking at the sea might just win you over and in the evening a walk to the end of the track to what feels your own personal beach your never want to leave .
We was staying during a big Scottish adventure of the NC500 including Orkney , Lewis and sky and leaving Galson Farm was the only one that brought tears to my eyes ❤️

Galson Farm Guesthouse is a wonderful place to stay. Elaine and Richard are perfect hosts, the room was beautifully clean and tastefully decorated with lots of lovely extra touches. There are a couple of sitting areas for the guests, one with a television and one quiet, comfortable area. There is a wide choice of breakfasts available, and they are very tasty and large! Nothing is too much trouble, and Elaine and Richard have great local knowledge and can suggest things that will interest you. We had the added bonus of some newly born lambs to see too! A stay here will not disappoint!
